ABOUT
hyogo
Hyogo Prefecture is located in the westernmost part of Japan’s Kinki region. Bordered by two seas, the Sea of Japan to the north and the Seto Inland Sea to the south, it is surrounded by rich nature.
Culturally, the former five provinces of Settsu, Harima, Tajima, Tanba, and Awaji, which have different climates, histories, and cultures, are united in this prefecture, and their individual characteristics are still alive today.
While the Seto Inland Sea coast in the south is one of the most industrialized areas of Japan, agriculture, forestry and fishing are the main industries in the central and northern part of the prefecture, which is characterized by its rich nature and heavy snowfall.
Japan’s top tourist attractions are spread throughout the prefecture, including the exotic city of Kobe, the World Heritage-listed Himeji Castle, and Kinosaki Onsen, where the ancient cityscape lives on.
