“Some months ago my wife and I visited South Africa and it came about that in our travels we found ourselves in Howick.  In the 1980’s our two sons, Charles and James, had attended Howick High. We decided to visit the school.

We arrived just as the lessons for the day finished and went through the main gate to be met by the pupils on their way to take part in the afternoon’s activities. Each and every pupil was tidily dressed and on passing us said “Good afternoon, Sir, Good afternoon Madam’. Not a few asked if they could help us.

The courtesy, consideration, and kindness shown by your pupils to two old strangers was a highlight of our visit to RSA. You and your staff deserve much credit for this situation. Thank you.

I am a retired teacher living in [*an address near Howick High School]. I have only been in Howick for three months. In that time I have frequently encountered Howick High pupils going to and from school.

Every time I am greeted with a wave and a smiling “Hello” or “Good morning”. I can’t tell you how impressed I am by the polite and friendly manner the Howick High pupils display.
