Our great debaters' club fosters young girls' confidence in public speaking and builds their skills in researching resources to assert themselves confidently. We ensure all girls in our school have the opportunity to articulate themselves in our debaters' club in preparation for life beyond NSC, IGCSE and A-Level.
Our primary and secondary schools recognise the need to build the wholesome of our learners through life skills in discipline. Hence, we offer Taekwondo classes to help learners develop critical skills in self-defense discipline. Learners of all ages can find age-appropriate martial arts classes in all our campuses!
Peer learning is an effective method of teaching and learning where peer-to-peer learning takes place through student-led activities, study groups, and group work assignments. Children learn from each other critical life skills such as cooperation and teamwork for a life beyond NSC, IGCSE and A-Level classwork.
In a breath-taking view of our talents celebrating the joy of the End-of -Year closing ceremony that coincides with Somalia's independence day, our students breathed life into the national independence song, their voices infused with the rich tapestry of emotions that define our collective identity. Salah is not only good at mathematics, but also is an outstanding football player. His agility, speed, and tactical awareness on the pitch are impressive. Overall, Salah is a remarkable young boy with a diverse range of skills and talents. Mr Hassan lives in Leicester UK and his son, Muslim, excelled in the 2017 Pearson Edexcel IGCSE examinations. Muslim scooped a number of distinctions far beyond his dad's expectations. Here is Muslim's dad complimenting his son and the school for the remarkable achievements in the schools 1st graduation ceremony of 2017.
Dr Yabarow is the Dean of the college of medicine at SIU. He was invited to speak at ILAYS's 6th IGCSE and A-Level graduation ceremony of 2022. In his remarks, DR Yabarow stated that he came to ILAYS six years ago looking for a good school with a quality education. "I didn't know the school or its leaders. In my honest analysis, the school exceeded my expectation by a thousand times ... by a thousand times ... This is a unique school ... it is one of a kind!!!"
Dr Elmi is a senior medical doctor and professor at several universities including JU. Formerly, he was the director of Madina Hospital, of the largest hospitals in the country. Not only is he a parent to some of the highest performing sytudents but also a close friend of the school. One of his five daughters graduated from ILAYS and succeeded a full board scholarship at the University of York in England. His other daughter is in the University of West England. He spoke at his third daughter's 2022 IGCSE graduation.
